Trade Credit insurers Allianz Trade have predicted that Business insolvencies will skyrocket. The rebound in insolvencies in 2021 and 2022 is in contrast to the artificial low recorded in 2020. The UK will outpace its European peers for forecasted business failures, according to Allianz Trade’s research.

Number of Businesses closing hits record levels

The figures show 345,000 businesses across the UK shut their doors in 2022 – a 5% increase on the 328,000 that closed in 2021, and the highest figure since records began in 2002. Meanwhile, 337,000 new businesses began trading nationwide in 2022 – down from 364,000 the year before.
