Judge Signs Off on Settlement, $11M in Attorney’s Fees in Student Loan Collection Case
- A District Court judge in Nebraska has given final approval to a class-action settlement against a student loan servicer and awarded more than $11 million in attorney’s fees.

More Consumers Falling Behind on Loan Payments
- Nearly 30% of consumers living in the 100 largest metropolitan areas of the United States were behind on at least one debt payment between July and September of last year, according to data released last week by LendingTree. Those debts include credit cards, auto loans, personal loans, mortgages, and student loans. Twenty-seven percent of consumers, meanwhile, have a debt that is considered to be seriously delinquent, meaning it is at least 90 days past due, and 26% had a debt in collections.

Consumers Getting Comfortable with Filing Disputes, Chargeback Requests: Report
- Consumers across the United States disputed $83 billion of credit card charges in 2023, with each cardholder averaging nearly six chargebacks, each of them valued at $76, according to a report issued last week by Chargebacks911.
