CFPB to Scale Back Supervision, Shift Focus to Combatting Consumer Fraud
- The Chief Legal Officer of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau yesterday published a memo detailing a major shift in the Bureau’s enforcement and supervision priorities for 2025. - A Buffalo-area man has pleaded guilty to charges of mail fraud after being accused of a debt collection scam in which he impersonated a local sheriff’s deputy and an attorney to bilk unsuspecting consumers out of more than $420,000.
