What Credit Cards Can Get Me Into Chase Lounges?

Tired of sitting at the airport gate with everyone else? We don’t blame you — from limited seating and crying babies to overpriced food and drinks, the main airport can be a buzzkill. Chase has realized this and promised to open a handful of airport lounges around the world. But what airports have Chase lounges — and which credit cards can get you into said lounges? Let’s take a look.

Chase Sapphire lounge locations in the U.S.

What U.S. airports have Chase lounges? Only three as of now, but to date, Chase has announced several different locations for its lounges in the U.S.:

• Las Vegas (LAS).

• Phoenix (PHX).

• San Diego (SAN).

• Philadelphia (PHL).

• Boston (BOS - now open).

• New York-LaGuardia (LGA - now open, see our review here).

• New York-JFK (JFK - now open).

It’s interesting to note that many airports on this list might not be the big names you’d expect to see.

From another perspective, though, airports such as San Francisco and Los Angeles are already outfitted with several airport lounges. These locations will help close a gap for popular midsize airports with limited existing lounges.

Chase Sapphire lounge locations in Asia

There's one Chase Sapphire Lounge in Asia that's already open: Hong Kong.

The Chase Sapphire Lounge By The Club is located in Terminal 1 of Hong Kong International Airport. You'll find it at Level 7 of the departures level of the West Hall, near Gate 40. But even if you're flying from the East Hall, you can still get there — as long as you're willing to ride the shuttle or take a 10-15 minute walk.

The lounge admits folks within three hours of their flight's scheduled departure time, and children under two are admitted free.

A Chase lounge in Texas (sort of)

There's a private, bougie space for Chase cardholders in Texas, but don't call it a lounge.

The Sapphire Terrace opened on March 20, 2023, at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Chase calls it an "experience," described as an indoor-outdoor space in the airport that provides travelers a place to relax, recharge and fuel up before flights.

Happily, there are refreshments, including cider from Austin Eastciders and beer from (512) Brewing Company, and some light, grab-and-go style snacks. To stay entertained, there's shuffleboard to play and artwork from Austin artist and muralist Rex Hamilton to gaze at.

The Terrace is open exclusively to Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardmembers and up to two guests, who can access the space by showing their card at the entrance. Daily hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Chase Sapphire Reserve®

To get into the 'experience' in Austin, you'll need the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card. This card, which comes with a hefty $550 annual fee, also offers a bevy of benefits to frequent travelers, including:

• A $300 annual travel credit.

• 3x Chase Ultimate Rewards® points per dollar spent on all travel.

• Priority Pass Select membership.

• Up to 10x Chase points per dollar spent on hotels and rental cars booked via Chase Travel, as well as 5x Chase points per dollar spent on airfare.

The card also earns 3x points on other travel after the first $300 is spent on travel purchases annually; 10x points on Chase Dining purchases with Ultimate Rewards®; 3x points on other dining at restaurants, including eligible delivery services, takeout and dining out; and 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases.

Newcomers are enticed with a welcome offer: Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That's $900 toward travel when you redeem through Chase Travel℠. Cardholders also get 50% more value when they redeem Ultimate Rewards® for travel in Chase's travel portal.

Other ways to gain airport lounge access

While the cards listed below won't get you into the Austin lounge — erm, experience — other cards can get you into The Chase Sapphire Lounge By The Club in Hong Kong.

Priority Pass lounges

Unlike, say, AmEx Centurion Lounges, Chase Sapphire airport lounge access isn't restricted to just Chase cardholders. Like other The Club lounges, Chase Sapphire airport lounges are accessible to all Priority Pass members.

Priority Pass is a collection of more than 1,300 lounges and restaurants located in airports around the world. The Chase Sapphire Reserve® card comes with a Priority Pass Select membership; after activating, the perk entitles the cardholder and up to two guests entry to any of these lounges when traveling.

This membership also includes access to participating restaurants, which will grant you (and your guests) a per-person credit to be used on food and drinks.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® isn’t the only travel card to offer a Priority Pass Select Membership. Other popular cards with Priority Pass membership include:

• Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.

• The Platinum Card® from American Express.

• Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card.

• Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card.

Airport lounge membership

If you’re particularly loyal to a single airline, you may want to consider getting yourself an airport lounge membership. These memberships grant you access to branded lounges whenever you fly the airline.

For example, if you have a United Club membership, you’ll be able to enter the United Club lounge anytime you’re flying on a United Airlines ticket, even domestically.

Airline lounge memberships aren’t cheap, but if you hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you can use the $300 annual travel credit toward the cost of the membership.

You can also opt to acquire some high-end credit cards, such as the United Club℠ Infinite Card, which include lounge membership as part of their annual fee.

American Express Global Lounge Collection

If you hold The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express or the Centurion Card, you’ll have access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection. Terms apply.

In addition to the Priority Pass Select membership mentioned above, these cards will give you plenty of different choices for airport lounge access, including:

• Centurion Lounges.

• Escape Lounges.

• Delta Sky Clubs (when flying Delta).

• Plaza Premium.

• Air Space.

• Select Lufthansa lounges (when flying Lufthansa).

Note that as an The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express cardholder, you must pay $50 per guest ($30 for children ages 2 to 17) for guest entry unless you’ve spent $75,000 or more in eligible purchases on your card in a calendar year.
