COLLECTION OPERATION TO FORGIVE $23M IN DEBTS UNDER ENFORCEMENT ACTION WITH N.C. AG
- A group of defendants — no stranger to enforcement actions — has agreed to forgive $23 million in payments, refund $225,000 to consumers, and pay $30,000 in fines after being sued for allegedly engaging in illegal collection practices.
- The defendants are also permanently banned from collecting debts in North Carolina.

BANNED COLLECTOR FACING FIVE YEARS IN PRISON FOLLOWING GUILTY PLEA
- Greg MacKinnon pleaded guilty yesterday to not paying more than $3 million in taxes.
- MacKinnon and other defendants were sued in 2015 by the Federal Trade Commission and the New York Attorney General for engaging in illegal debt collection practices.
