Pa. State Judge Dismisses Hunstein Case for Lack of Standing
- In a case that was defended by the teams at Martin Golden Lyons Watts Morgan and Lippes Mathias, a state court judge in Pennsylvania has dismissed a Hunstein case on the grounds the plaintiff lacked standing to sue, saying that there “appears to be little difference” between the agency printing and mailing a letter or it using a third party to do so.

CFPB Report Updates Medical Debt Collection Credit Reporting Data Points
- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau yesterday published a research report which updates previously released data on the number of consumers who have medical debt collection tradelines on their credit reports. The report professes that 15 million consumers have a medical account in their credit report, but the share of consumers with a medical debt on their credit report has dropped to 5% of those with a credit record as of June 2023, down from 14% in March 2022, when the data was originally released.

- A Pennsylvania collection operation has suffered a data breach that has compromised the personal information of nearly 2 million individuals, according to a filing the company has made with the Maine Attorney General.
